"The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." -Eleanor Roosevelt

A question Perri proposed for today's blog was " What do you love most about your experience at W. P. Carey?" For me, the answer to that question is easy, it's the opportunities to explore.

Ironically, it's not the experiences I had with W. P. Carey in Tempe, Arizona but the opportunities to go explore the world that W.P. Carey encouraged me to find.

Today, we had our first workshop with Kevin Burns the Strategic Initiatives Director at the W. P. Carey School of Business. Which is crazy because Kevin was the very first ASU speaker I heard as a incoming freshmen to W. P. Carey. Kevin gave a very similar talk today to the one I heard as a incoming freshman sitting on a gym floor at a weekend camp for new business students.

However, this time around I am a soon to be gradating senior sitting in a classroom of a completely different university. There was an aha moment when I realized one of the main reasons I was at Draper University and trying something so big and scary is because I attended a university that not only allowed me to but encouraged it.

The reason I love being a W. P. Carey student so much is because we are expected to test our limits as students. The idea that business can't just be taught in a classroom but a student must to go out into the world and experience it, is ingrained in the business school. These experiences that I found through W. P. Carey, whether it was joining a club, being introduces to new mentors or studying at a other university around the world was a large part in what main my college career so well round and diverse.

I am so incredibly thankful that W. P. Carey pushed me to be better and do bigger because it lead me to do things such as Draper University. Which without the encouragement and support of W. P. Carey I might not have been able to do.

Cheers,

Courteney
