I might have found one of the best business books ever. As an entreputure it is easy to get wrapped around the idea that you need to be working 100 hours a week and that’s how you build a successful company. But how stainable is that? Almost as important, how enjoyable is that?

Now don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with working hard but something I had been missing in the puzzle was am I working efficiently? How long is the runway for the company to mentally keep pace?

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could switch your time digging through your email inbox for time at a beach in Bali?

Well the book Four Hour Work Week, is helping me to make this a reality. In the beginning stages of my company taking the time to design in it in a way that tasks can be automated and simplified to make sure that the company is sustainable and more importantly scalable.

The Four Hour Work Week has helped me to think about the long term about Trader Jack. Right now the company is just me and limited to my runway. This book has helped me to design ways to make the runway longer by using tools like batching work together and outsourcing task that can be simplified.

You have to be able to work on your business and not in your business if you want it to be able to grow. This concept is really important for me to think about and implement into Trader Jack.

To say the least I love this book and already have found so many helpful designs to increase the runway for my company Trader Jack.

The next trick would be to figure out not only how to have a four work week but a four hour school week but unfortunately I am running into problems with academic dishonesty with some of the tools in this book.

Anyways, I still have 75 pages left in the book, so I am signing off to continue reading.

Cheers,

Courteney

P.S. I am looking for more goodreads, so if you have any suggestion PLEASE send them my way!
