Day 115: Are you too comfortable?

" If you're too comfortable, it's time to move on. Terrified of what's next? You're on the right track"- Susan Fales-Hill

Remember Christmas morning and seeing that Santa was able to secure the toy your parents assured you there would be no way he could get. Playing with the version .0001 of the Trader Jack website has a very similar feeling. Finally something I have been working on all semester has started to come to life, to say that I am excited is an understatement!

I am so happy to see that we have something moving but seeing the very first version of the website I can see we have a long way to go. I realized that I have only put half of my pinky toe in to the journey that its going to take to make Trader Jack take off. Looking into the future you have two options, let the the unknown freak you out or let the opportunity to grow drive you forward. The cool thing about life is you have the option to decide which track you want to take. Me personally, I would be lying to you if I said never was overwhelmed by Trader Jack but the difference is not letting that stop me but instead being excited about the unknown.

I find that writing weekly goals and also reflecting on what progress I have made. Doing this weekly helps me to keep thing in prospective. I have also learned that being able to say "I don't know how to do this" is a great skill and then following that statement by reaching out to your network to ask for help or maybe even giving it a good google search.

For example, there was a time this summer where I really wanted to start a blog for my experiences at Draper but I had no idea where to start. So I spent about eight hours just googling to try and find a starting place. I asked for lots of advice from peers and look here I am now writing my 115th blog post. I still have a lot of work to do on my blog but at least I can look back and see how far The Real Capitalist has come which makes it easier to see how much further the blog can go! I am working on some exciting stuff for next semester, so stay tuned!

In other news, last week I had the opportunity to pitch one more time in Silicon Valley. Today we got the video to share with our community and I would love for you to check out the link to see my pitch!

Cheers,

Courteney
