Today we are learning first hand how hard it is to start a company from scratch. The activity of the day is “Start-up improv”, we were spilt into teams of three, given two words that would become our company’s names and 24 hours until it’s time to pitch.
My Group got the words Hayloft and Sonic boom, so we are creating a moonshine brewery called Hayloft Boom in the middle of San Francisco, California. We have to create a website, social media, financial projections and a variety of other business components
If this activity has taught me, it that entrepreneurship is HARD! It’s easier to understand why so few people make it as successful entrepreneurs because with every new projects comes so many obstacles. In addition to learning about the obstacles, we are learning who to depend on others and collaborate to create a better outcome. We only have 24 hours to create the best company we can, so it’s extremely important that everyone pulls their weight and takes on different projects.
Today’s assignment is testing us to see if we have what it takes to make it in the top three percent.
It’s time to get back to work on the Moonshine.
Cheers,
Courteney
