" Formal Education will make you a living, self- education will make you a fortune" - Jim Rohn
Today is an other day off but in all reality there are no days when you are an entrepreneur. Yesterday, I took off the day to enjoy Napa but even though I wasn't looking at computer screen or sitting in a workshop, I was still working. Thinking about different features for my website, talking with others to brainstorm and collect feedback. Trader Jack (my startup) never left my head.
Draper University had been far from a formal education but that is why I believe it work so well. They provide penalty of resources but it up to us to make the ends connect. Its up to us as students to manage our time, ask the right questions and make our own connections. It all about knowing what you want to get out of this program and being willing to go find it.
My start-up is a SaaS Model, which is an area that I personally don't have a tons of knowledge on. So I have been spending today finding resources to better understand software and SaaS model startups. One thing I have found super helpful is the NPR How I built this podcast series. Today I listened to the story of Reddit and the founders challenges with one founder coming from a non-tech background and one being very talented in tech. Learning how they over come some of issues is helping me to strategize how to overcome the issues I am having with my lack of software knowledge.
In addition to listening to lots of podcast today I created two websites for my MVP. Here they are: Website Number One and Website Number Two!
Although both websites have a long way to go, its exciting to see these ideas come to life.
I have a lot of work to get done before tomorrow's presentations of the MVPs, so its time to run!
Cheers,
Courteney
