"Inspire women to dream bigger"
Yesterday, I took a trip into the city to go to University of Queensland Alumni group, the school I studied aboard at last fall in Australia. Which was amazing to be around some mates again!
On the train ride in San Francisco, sitting on the other aisle was a young high school girl talking with her dad about an app idea she had, which reminded me of all the conversations I have had with my dad about business ideas. It was amazing to see this girl so excited and fearless about her idea.
Today we were challenged to write in six words what we wanted to do with our businesses and the impact we wanted to make on the world. Which a big idea to think about; what am I doing now that would change the world for someone else?
My brain went straight back to the girl on the train, how passionate she was. Thats my goal in life is to be a woman so passionate and driven that she makes something bigger than herself.
After I am gone and others are looking back on my life, I would like them to say "Courteney was a strong woman, who brought up the women around her". I was lucky enough to surrounded but such powerful women role models my whole life and I believe that is a large part of what shape who I am today.
When I applying to Draper University, one of the interview questions was " what kind hero would you like to be?" I would like to be a hero for little girls, like the once I had when I was younger.
It's so exciting to be starting a company but I am quickly learning how hard it really is but in those moments I look for my heros. The women who have stepped up, defended the odds and became incredible entrepreneurs. Hearing the stories of these strong females helps me to get into the mindset " if they can do it then so can I".
I want to be that for someone else, an inspiration. My six word goal for my career in business and my life "Inspire women to dream bigger" because other women did that for me.
Cheers,
Courteney
