Day Thirty- Nine: The Cost Of Ambition

“We pay a price for everything we get or take in this world; and although ambitions are well worth having, they are not to be cheaply won.”- L.M. Montgomery

There is something I have learned about go-getters, dreamers and entrepreneurs is that they sacrifice a lot for the chance to succeed. One of my favorite part of the the super hero oath we say every day at Draper is " I will make short term sacrifices for long term success". Being here at Draper is a sacrifice, risking your financial future maxing out credit cards to fund your company is a sacrifice, taking a path unlike your peers a sacrifice.

We are doing more and more challenging activities everyday here at Draper University. More mentally, emotionally and physical challenging, you have to ask yourself what am I willing to do to push myself to get what I want. This week you can really see the toll the stress of the program has had on me and my classmates. This is not any easy path we have picked out for ourselves. The group of people that I am surrounded by at Draper University are super ambitious people and it will be amazing to be along side them as we all change the world. However, it comes at a high cost but comes with a even higher reward.

Today we heard from the Co-founder of Pandora Tim Westergren. My favorite thing he said was "remember that entrepreneurship is process and enjoy it for what it is". You will ether launch a successful company or learn an incredible amount in the most intense way, ether way you come out a head. Remember your prospective changes everything, if you are focused on the financial rewards you will never get through the deep valleys because its not enough motivation. Instead, if you work on a project that you are fiercely fired up about that will be enough motivation to get you through the hardest times and the financial rewards will come later.

For my company, I am working on breaking into the smallest tasks/ goals I can complete on a daily basis and reminding myself that it's not going happen over night.

Cheers,

Courteney
