Day Eight Five: Work On A Saturday?

" We don't have to be smarter than the rest; we have to be more disciplined that the rest" - Warren Buffett

Today, we had a marketing workshop all morning and then a CAD class for the afternoon. Then I spent the rest of the day in a coffee shop finishing up my homework for my ASU online classes and working on entering my company into business competitions for when I return back to Arizona.

During my time in Silicon Valley I have come to realized that everyone has the next big idea. Having an idea means nothing when starting a company but its in fact the execution that matters to the success of the company. An entrepreneurs needs to have extreme discipline because no one is there to keep you on track or babysit you. If you want to take a whole week off or if you want mess around for the day, no one is stopping you.

You have to be able to hold yourself accountable and surround yourself driven people who are trying to achieve similar goals. Thankfully the Draper Program has given me friends who are also disciplined and are willing to bust out some work on a Saturday Afternoon. Not everything about being an entrepreneur is glamorous, in fact 99 percent of it isn't glamorous what so ever. So you have to ask yourself I am willing to make short term short term sacrifice for long term success?

Cheers,

Courteney
