Day 108: Pitch Day!
Today is the last day of the Draper Program and our last Draper Pitch day! Holy cow, time surely flies! I can't believe we made it to the end of the semester! Oh course we still have a few things to wrap up in terms of our ASU classes but the Draper part of the program is complete! I can't help to be extremely thankful for the opportunity I have had to come to California to chase my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. Not only be able to chase the dream but hustle and make it become a reality.
This morning we gave our final pitches to Tim Draper, our mentors, a group of an investors and the Harvard Business School group of Silicon Valley. We had two minutes to pitch our company and give a review of what progress we have made over the semester. Through out the semester when in the thick of the weeds everyday it seems like you are making no progress but when you take a step back to look at the big picture, the sweat equity becomes easy to see. I am beyond impressed with my classmates and all the things that we were able to accomplish of the course of the semester. I often wonder how we are going to be able to go back to "normal school" with no pitches to major investors in the middle of the week and lecture halls without bean bag chairs.
My pitch went off flawless, which was a huge relief and I was able to answer some great questions from the judges. After the pitches I got to have a great conversation with Tim Draper about my experience at Draper University and expressed how excited he was about Trader Jack's Progress! I insured him that this will not be the last he will see from Jack and I because I am excited to bring Trader Jack to Arizona and launch the platform sometime next semester!
Then the day came full circle when we got to have a panel fireside chat with four very successful ASU Alumni. It was great to hear from four Sun Devils who had already made a very positive impact for Arizona State University in the Silicon Valley Eco System. We talked with them about alumni networks, tips for our first jobs/ projects out of college and much more! Talking with them this afternoon reminded me that my own graduation from ASU is just around the corner and how excited I am to be a proud ASU Alumni like the panel one day!
Cheers,
Courteney
